Meta's Muse agent wants your inbox and wallet

Meta launched Muse, a US-only personal agent that acts across email, calendar, payments and shopping, as federal agencies and Google warned that attackers and rival labs are working at agent speed.

The Morning Read

Meta launches Muse, a personal agent that does the errands itself (Axios, TechCrunch) Meta released Muse in the US on iOS, Android and the web. It is a personal agent that can send email, book travel, fill out forms and shop. It connects to email, calendar, payments, health, shopping and smart-home services. Each user's agent runs in its own isolated cloud VM, a separate "Sentinel" approver has to sign off before anything reaches the internet, and logins sit in a vault Muse can't read. There's a free tier plus $20 and $100 monthly plans. What it means for SMBs / MSPs: Your staff will connect a consumer agent to work mail and cards before anyone asks you, so write the policy this week.

NSA, CISA and FBI name six Chinese labs in a distillation advisory (CISA) Advisory AA26-251A says DeepSeek, Moonshot AI, Alibaba, MiniMax, StepFun and Z.AI ran "industrial-scale" campaigns since late 2024 to copy capabilities from Claude, GPT, Gemini and Grok. The traffic went through APIs, cloud providers, third-party aggregators and gray-market API proxies ("transfer stations"). What it means for SMBs / MSPs: That too-cheap API reseller your developer found may be part of this gray market. Buy model access direct or through a major cloud.

Google: attackers used AI agents to steal thousands of credentials in under six hours (SiliconANGLE) Mandiant traced a financially motivated actor who broke into a company's cloud. The attacker then pointed an AI coding chatbot, a prompt and markdown playbooks at scanning and credential harvesting. The exposed control dashboard held more than 23,800 secrets, including cloud keys, database logins, SaaS tokens and AI API keys. What it means for SMBs / MSPs: AI API keys are now loot in their own right. Inventory them, scope them and rotate them the way you do cloud admin keys.

OpenAI ships ChatGPT Images 2.5 with Sketch and templates (OpenAI) The new image model cuts generation time by up to 50% compared with Images 2.0. It keeps reference photos more faithful and follows multi-turn edits more reliably. You can draw a rough sketch as input, leave comments on an image and start from templates for flyers and product photos. Two API models, Flare and Sunburst, are priced at $8/$30 per million input/output tokens. What it means for SMBs / MSPs: Routine marketing art like flyers, product shots and event graphics just got faster and more controllable inside a tool your clients already pay for.

Mistral raises €3B led by Samsung (TechCrunch) The French lab closed a €3 billion Series D at a valuation above €21 billion. It will spend the money on its own training and inference data centers. TechCrunch framed it as "sovereign AI" becoming big business. What it means for SMBs / MSPs: Clients who need European data residency or open-weight models now have a well-funded vendor that will be around for a while.

️ Tool or Feature to Try This Week

ChatGPT Images 2.5 templates. If you make marketing collateral for a client or your own shop, open ChatGPT, pick the flyer or product-photo template, upload a real product photo and ask for three variants. Then use comments to fix one detail at a time. The first test takes about 20 minutes. Pick one real upcoming promotion so you're judging real output, not a demo.

Put It to Work

Find every AI API key your business uses, name an owner for each, and set a spend limit. Mandiant traced an attacker who used an AI coding chatbot to harvest credentials, and the exposed dashboard held more than 23,800 secrets, including AI API keys. Check code repos, automation tools like Zapier or Make, and .env files. Rotate any key that is shared or that no one recognizes.

*For MSPs:* A fixed-scope AI key hygiene review, covering inventory, ownership, spend limits and rotation, is easy to scope and explain.

One Thing to Avoid

Letting staff connect Muse, or any consumer agent, to business accounts. Meta's security design is serious, but it is built for personal errands. Your client gets no admin console, retention controls or audit trail over what the agent did with company mail and cards.

Trend to Watch

Agents with their own computer. Muse gets its own VM, credentials in a vault and a separate approver for outbound actions. That setup is becoming the reference design for agents that act rather than chat. Expect business buyers to start asking every agent vendor the same three questions: where it runs, who holds the keys and what has to approve an action.
