Amazon Lets Sellers Run Their Stores From Claude
Amazon opened Seller Central to outside AI agents with a Claude plugin in beta, as Dataiku launched agent inventory tools and the White House asked labs to hold new models from UK testers.
Amazon opens Seller Central to outside AI agents, starting with Claude (GeekWire, About Amazon) A new plugin lets sellers check inventory, adjust prices, update listings and pull sales analytics from Anthropic's Claude or Amazon's Quick assistant without opening Seller Central. It is generally available in Quick and in beta in Claude, for US Professional-plan sellers. Sellers choose which data the plugin can reach and approve each action before it runs. What it means for SMBs / MSPs: This is one of the first big platforms to hand its own merchant tools to a third-party assistant, and any client selling on Amazon can test it this week.
White House asks OpenAI and Anthropic to hold new models from UK testers (The Next Web, City AM) The Office of the National Cyber Director asked both labs not to share new models with the UK AI Security Institute until US government review is done. Anthropic reportedly did not give its latest Claude Mythos model to the institute, which said it still has prerelease access to other frontier models. What it means for SMBs / MSPs: Safety testing of the models your clients use is becoming a national matter, so expect more "who reviewed this model" questions in regulated-industry procurement.
Dataiku launches Agent Management (SiliconANGLE, Dataiku) The standalone product finds AI agents running across platforms, tracks their business and technical performance, and flags the riskiest ones. Dataiku cited research that fewer than one in five organizations keep a complete, current inventory of their AI systems. General availability is planned for October. What it means for SMBs / MSPs: You probably don't need an enterprise platform, but you do need the list it builds, and a spreadsheet can start that today.
Gemini 3.8 Live with Live Avatar goes GA in Gemini Enterprise (Google Cloud) Google made its real-time speech-to-speech model with a lip-synced talking face generally available, with 97 languages, async tool calls and SynthID watermarking. Customers pick from prebuilt avatars; custom avatars require allowlisting and verification. What it means for SMBs / MSPs: Video "front desk" agents are now an enterprise SKU, but most small businesses still get more from a good phone or chat agent first.
Amazon's Seller Central plugin in Claude (beta). For any client or champion managing an Amazon Professional seller account. A first test takes about an hour. First step: connect the plugin with read-only data access to inventory and sales, then ask for a list of SKUs likely to stock out in the next 30 days with the reasoning. Approve no price or listing changes until the answers match what the team sees in Seller Central.
Start a simple spreadsheet listing every AI agent, plugin and connector your business uses. Dataiku cited research that fewer than one in five organizations keep a complete, current inventory of their AI systems. For each entry, record the owner, the data it touches, what it can change and when someone last reviewed it. If you use Amazon's new Seller Central plugin, keep it read-only until its answers match what your team sees.
*For MSPs:* A flat-fee, half-day agent inventory is an easy first engagement, and most owners will be surprised by the count.
Granting write access on day one. Amazon's approve-each-action design exists for a reason. Letting any assistant change prices or listings before you have checked its read-only answers is how a pricing error reaches every buyer at once.
Platforms inviting agents in, on their own terms. Amazon is opening sanctioned, permissioned access for assistants it chooses while keeping its data under its own controls. Expect more marketplaces, CRMs and banks to publish official agent plugins with scoped permissions, and to treat unapproved browsing agents as a terms-of-service problem.
