ChatGPT's New Model Fills Forms, 3x Faster
OpenAI's GPT-6.1 Terra is rolling out in ChatGPT Work for Plus, Business and other paid plans, built to read the screen, fill forms and draft proposals, so it's time to decide which of your forms it may touch.
OpenAI's GPT-6.1 Terra is built for the paperwork part of the day (OpenAI, BleepingComputer, Blockchain.News) OpenAI started rolling out GPT-6.1 Terra on Monday in ChatGPT Work, the part of ChatGPT that works across your files and desktop apps, and in Codex, its coding tool. OpenAI's release notes list Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans, though access depends on your plan, region, workspace settings and how far the rollout has reached, so you may not see it yet. It isn't in the regular ChatGPT chat window. OpenAI pitches it for the whole workday: it reads what's on the screen, acts across apps and writes in a plainer voice, and the company's own examples include reading technical drawings, drafting proposals and filling in forms. OpenAI says it finishes tasks more than three times faster than its bigger models, and it charges developers about half of what the earlier Terra cost. Those are OpenAI's numbers, and so is this one worth keeping: on its own set of hard questions, the model still got facts wrong 4.3% of the time at its most careful setting. If you already pay for ChatGPT Plus or Business, this is the first model that's really aimed at the forms and paperwork that eat an office manager's afternoon, and it costs you nothing extra to try. Treat it like a fast new hire on day one. Let it fill in the form, then read every box before you hit submit, because roughly one wrong answer in every 23 is exactly the kind of mistake that slips through when the rest of the form looks perfect.
Tell it what you don't want (Starter · 2 minutes)
If every draft comes back too long, too cheerful or full of words you'd never use, say so before it starts. A short "don't" list at the top of your request saves you making the same edits every single time. It matters more as the models get faster: a quick draft you have to rewrite isn't quick.
> Write this in plain English. No exclamation points, no jargon, nothing longer than 150 words, and don't promise dates or prices.
Works the same in ChatGPT and Copilot.
What good looks like: a draft that already sounds like your office, with nothing you'd have to take out. Avoid: writing the list once and forgetting it. Save it somewhere you can paste it every time.
If you run a cleaning company or any business with a front desk: follow one new commercial client through the door. The office manager signs a new account, and the client's accounts payable team sends over a vendor setup form: business details, insurance information, service address, contact names. Today that's 30 minutes of copying from old files. With an AI that can read the screen, she points it at the form and the folder with last year's copy, and it fills in the boxes. Then it stops. She reads every field against the paperwork, fixes the one it guessed, and she's the one who presses submit. The AI did the typing; a person still signs for what the form says.
Write the "don't" list for your forms too. Five minutes. Before anyone lets an AI near a form, agree on what it may never fill in on its own: bank account numbers, anything that sets a price or a date, and anything that signs on your behalf. Tape it next to the computer, and paste it into the request the way today's tip shows.
Where it's going: AI is moving from writing about your paperwork to doing it, so the businesses that decide which forms it may fill, and who checks them, will get the afternoons back without the wrong numbers.
