Chrome Now Fills Web Forms From Your Gmail
Chrome's AI autofill can now pull order numbers, addresses and even card numbers out of a personal Gmail inbox, Oracle and OpenAI pitched a $12,000 small-business bundle, and Google is selling ads inside AI answers worldwide.
Chrome's AI autofill can now pull details out of your Gmail (TechCrunch, Android Police, Notebookcheck) On Wednesday Google started rolling out an upgrade to Chrome's enhanced autofill that suggests form answers it finds in your Gmail: flight confirmation numbers, membership IDs, tracking and order numbers, addresses, phone numbers and even credit card numbers sitting in old emails. It runs on Gemini, it's rolling out to US users on desktop and in the Gemini in Chrome app on iPhone and Android, and you have to opt in from Chrome's settings with Gemini in Chrome and Personal Intelligence turned on. Work, school and supervised accounts are left out, so a Google Workspace address won't see it. A personal Gmail will, and plenty of small offices run on exactly that. The practical part: this is a real time saver on vendor portals and supplier forms, but a suggestion pulled from an email can be the wrong customer's address or an old card. On Android you can tap "View sources" to open the email it came from, and that check is worth the extra second. Google says sensitive details stay encrypted; Notebookcheck points out that Google didn't say whether Gmail content trains its models.
Oracle and OpenAI pitch a $12,000-a-year bundle to small businesses (Oracle, Small Business Trends) At Oracle AI World in Las Vegas on Tuesday, Oracle and OpenAI announced the Oracle AI SMB Bundle: $12,000 a year in Oracle cloud credits, renewable for up to two more years, plus ChatGPT Business, OpenAI's Codex and Oracle's App Composer for building apps, and NetSuite QuickStart for invoicing and cash flow. There's a smaller, separate perk too: a one-time $50 usage credit when someone installs the NetSuite QuickStart plugin in ChatGPT Business and uses it within seven days, up to five people and $250 per workspace. It's for verified US businesses that are privately held, for profit and independent; service-only consultancies and nonprofits can't apply, and each application is reviewed. If you run the office, read the headline number carefully. The $12,000 is credit for Oracle's cloud, the kind you spend building and running software, and use above it is billed. Oracle hasn't published how many ChatGPT seats come with it or for how long, so get that in writing before you move anyone's work over.
Google is taking ads in its AI answers to more countries (TechCrunch, NewsBytes) Alongside Alphabet's quarterly results on Wednesday, Google said it is bringing ads in AI Overviews and AI Mode, the AI-written answers at the top of Search, to markets outside the US, as growth in its regular search ads slows. Reports differ on the exact list of countries. In the US these ads have been running for a while, and Search Engine Land has reported that campaigns using Performance Max, Shopping, or Search with broad match are automatically eligible. Whoever buys your Google Ads should know that some of your budget may already be showing up next to an AI answer rather than a list of links, and that's a different kind of shopper: someone who asked a whole question and got a summary first. That isn't bad news. It just means last year's sense of which keywords bring in the good calls may not hold, so look at this month's leads before you renew the same budget.
Make Claude check its own work (Starter · 3 minutes)
AI can add a detail that sounds right and isn't: a date, a number, a promise you never made. Before you send anything with facts in it, have Claude compare its draft to what you gave it. It's the same habit as clicking "View sources" on a Chrome autofill: trust it, but look at where it came from.
> Now check your draft against what I gave you. List anything you added that wasn't in my notes, and any number, date or name that doesn't match. Don't rewrite yet, just list them.
Works the same in ChatGPT and Copilot.
What good looks like: a short list, or "nothing added." Then you check the two or three items yourself. Avoid: treating the check as the final word. It catches most slips; a person still reads anything with a price, a date or a promise in it.
To whoever fills in the vendor forms: if Chrome starts offering to fill a box from your email, take a second before you accept it. Look at where the suggestion came from, make sure it's the right customer or the right order, and never let it put a card number into a site you didn't open yourself from a bookmark or a typed address. If the office works out of a personal Gmail, ask the owner whether this setting should be on at all, and if it is, keep it on one computer to start.
Pull one report on your Google Ads. Ten minutes with whoever runs your ads, or with your monthly statement if you run them yourself. Ask which campaigns use Performance Max or broad match, and whether this month's calls and form fills look any different from last month's. If the leads are fine, nothing to change. If they've gotten vaguer or pricier, that's the conversation to have before the holiday budget goes out.
Where it's going: AI is starting to sit in the small, in-between places of the workday, the form field, the ad slot, the bundle offer, so the businesses that read the setting and the terms before they click yes will get the help without the surprises.
