ChatGPT can lock chosen chats behind a PIN or Face ID
OpenAI began rolling out Locked Chats on Oct. 20 for Free, Go, Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans, TechCrunch reported. A locked chat moves to its own section, hidden from regular history and search, and opens with a four-digit PIN or with Face ID or Touch ID. OpenAI says the lock is not encryption and does not change how long chats are kept, and resetting the PIN deletes every locked chat.
Why it matters to a business like yours
On a shared office computer or a front-desk tablet, a lock keeps one person's chat about a customer complaint out of the next person's view. It does not keep anything off OpenAI's servers, so keep your rule on what never goes into an AI chat, and warn staff that a forgotten PIN means losing those chats.
