Microsoft says Windows 11 updates make PCs with 8GB of memory faster at juggling apps

In a blog post on Nov. 3, Microsoft said recent Windows 11 updates handle memory better on PCs with 8GB of RAM, ZDNET reported. In Microsoft's own lab tests, Windows was 20% more responsive and multitasking was 40% faster, partly because it can now keep up to 2GB more active data in memory instead of moving it to the drive. The gains come with the latest Windows 11 26H2 build.

Why it matters to a business like yours

If the office PCs that run your scheduling board or front counter have 8GB, the update may keep them useful longer. Before you budget for new machines, have your IT partner bring them to the latest Windows 11 build and see whether staff notice the difference.
