OpenAI says ChatGPT now runs about one web search for every five on Google
At an OpenAI press event on Nov. 2, ChatGPT consumer product lead Adam Fry said the number of searches run through ChatGPT is about 20 percent of Google's, The Verge and 9to5Google reported. OpenAI counts a search as any question that sends ChatGPT out to the web, and Fry did not say where the Google figure came from, so it has not been checked independently.
Why it matters to a business like yours
When someone asks ChatGPT for a plumber or a caterer nearby, the answer comes from what it finds on the web, not only from your Google listing. Ask it a few questions your customers would ask, see whether you show up, and keep your hours, services and service area current on your own site.
