Perplexity launches Teammates, always-on AI agents that take on ongoing work jobs
Perplexity launched Teammates on Nov. 5, The Verge reported: AI agents that keep running, each assigned its own job, and that draw on projects, skills and memory from Perplexity's other tools. People can follow each one in its own thread in the Perplexity app or talk to it in Slack. It needs Perplexity's Max plan at $200 a month, and it lines up against similar agents from OpenAI and Anthropic.
Why it matters to a business like yours
Agents like this are pitched for standing jobs, like watching for new quote requests or keeping a weekly report up to date. Before paying for one, write down the one job you would hand it and what it may and may not touch, then compare that against the agent tools in the plans you already have.
