Shopify says AI shopping agents can now buy from its stores with Shop Pay
On its Nov. 3 earnings call, Shopify said personal shopping agents such as Muse, Instinct, Claude Duet and Grok Bot now work with its stores, so a shopper can let an agent place an order and pay with Shop Pay without the agent seeing card details. Shopify said orders arriving from AI channels grew 3.3 times from a year earlier, while calling the volume still small. Orders an agent places show up in the Shop app next to the buyer's other orders.
Why it matters to a business like yours
If you sell online, the next order may come from a customer's AI agent, which reads your product details rather than looking at your photos. Shopify says these channels favor specific, well-described items, so check that each product lists its size, color, material and stock clearly.
