Ask it to edit your draft, not rewrite it
The job: Clean up an email without losing your own words
Paste in your draft and ask Claude to "make it better," and you often get back something that no longer sounds like you. Ask for a light edit instead, and have it list what it changed, so you stay in charge of your own message.
The prompt to copy
Here's my draft: [paste]. Do a light edit only: fix spelling, grammar and anything unclear, and keep my words and my tone. Then list each change you made, one line each, so I can undo any I don't like.
What a good answer looks like
Your email, still in your voice, with a short list of changes you can keep or undo.
The mistake to avoid
Asking it to "improve" the draft. That word invites a rewrite.
