The job: Get a reply or document right the first time
Most weak AI drafts come from short requests. Claude fills the gaps with guesses, and you spend longer fixing the draft than it would have taken to write it. Flip it around: let Claude interview you first.
How
- Paste the email or notes you're working from.
- Add the prompt below and send it.
- Answer its questions in a few words each, then let it write.
The prompt to copy
Before you write anything, ask me up to five questions you need answered to do this well. Wait for my answers, then write it.
What a good answer looks like
Questions about who the reader is, what you want them to do, and anything touchy, like a price, a delay or a complaint. Then a draft that sounds like it came from someone who knows the job.
The mistake to avoid
Answering "whatever you think." The questions are the point.
