The job: Find the right tone for a touchy message
When you're not sure how a message should sound, don't argue with one draft. Ask for three that are deliberately different and pick the closest.
The prompt to copy
Give me three versions of this: one short and direct, one warm and friendly, and one firm but polite. Label each one.
What a good answer looks like
Three clearly different drafts. Often the best answer is the second one with a line from the third.
The mistake to avoid
Asking for "more options" without saying how they should differ. You'll get three of the same.
