Put a weekly check on a schedule
The job: Get the same useful summary every Monday without asking for it
Scheduled tasks run a prompt for you on a schedule, like every weekday or every Monday morning, so the result is waiting when you sit down. They're on paid plans (Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise), and they run even when your computer is asleep, unless the task needs files on your computer.
How
- Test the prompt once in a normal chat until you like the result.
- Describe the task and how often it should run, review what Claude proposes, then click Schedule. In Cowork, it's Scheduled in the left sidebar, then New task.
- Read the first few results closely, and pause or delete any task you stop reading.
The prompt to copy
Every Monday at 7 AM, search the web for news from the past week about [our trade, our main suppliers, the software we use] that could affect a small [type of business]. Give me up to five items, one line each, with a link for each. If nothing matters this week, say so in one line.
What a good answer looks like
A short Monday list with links, and a one-line "nothing this week" when it's quiet.
The mistake to avoid
Starting with a task that sends or changes things on its own. Begin with tasks that only read and report.
