AI for Retail shop and online store
I've got hundreds of products and no time to write about any of them.
Write product descriptions from your own facts
You list the true facts about a product: what it is, what it's made of, sizes, care. The AI turns them into a description for your site or shelf tag, in your voice, without made-up claims.
Time back: Clears the backlog of products listed with no description, a batch at a time.
Prompt to copy:
Write a product description for [SHOP NAME] for [WHERE: WEBSITE / SHELF TAG / MARKETPLACE LISTING]. Product facts: [NAME, WHAT IT IS, MATERIALS, SIZES OR DIMENSIONS, CARE, PRICE, WHERE IT'S MADE IF KNOWN] Our voice: [E.G., WARM, PLAIN, A LITTLE FUNNY] Length: [E.G., 60-100 WORDS] Rules: Use only the facts above. Do not add claims such as 'handmade,' 'organic,' 'best-selling,' 'eco-friendly' or 'limited edition' unless they are in the facts. Do not invent materials, measurements or origin. If a fact a shopper would need is missing, ask me for it.
Watch out: Someone who has handled the product checks every material, size and claim before it is published.
Answer customer questions with your real policies
Returns, shipping, hours, gift cards and special orders make up most customer messages. The AI drafts the reply from your written policies, and a person checks stock and sends it.
Time back: Takes the typing out of the same customer questions you answer every day.
Prompt to copy:
You draft customer replies for [SHOP NAME]. Our policies, word for word: [PASTE RETURN POLICY, SHIPPING RATES AND TIMES, HOURS, GIFT CARD AND SPECIAL ORDER POLICY]. Customer message: [PASTE MESSAGE, NO LAST NAME OR ORDER NUMBER] Rules: Quote the return policy exactly as written and never offer an exception. Never confirm an item is in stock; say 'let me check and get back to you today.' Use only the facts I gave you and do not invent prices, dates or policies. If you need a fact I did not give you, ask me. Friendly and short, under 120 words.
Watch out: A person checks stock and the order before sending, and any exception to policy is the owner's call, made outside the AI.
Ask your sales system what sold
Square and Shopify now include AI assistants that answer questions about your own sales in plain English (see the AI Finder for plans and cost). Ask what sold, what sat, and what to reorder, then check the answer against your reports.
Time back: Replaces the Monday spreadsheet session with a few plain questions.
Prompt to copy:
Ask this inside Square AI or Shopify Sidekick, not a general chat: For [DATE RANGE], list our top [10] items by units sold and by revenue, the items that sold none, and the items that are below [NUMBER] in stock. Show the numbers you used and do not invent or estimate figures. If you are missing data or unsure, say so and ask me what you need.
Watch out: Check the numbers against your standard sales report before you place a reorder.
First step
Pick your ten best sellers, write five true facts about each, and run the product-description prompt on them this week.
